Spokane, WA &endash; GenPrime announced today that it has signed a long-term
lease for space in downtown Spokane's historic Holley Mason Building.
The bio-technology company plans to move its corporate headquarters,
including both lab and office space, from its present Airway Heights
location to the sixth floor of the Holley Mason in November.
The Holley Mason currently houses Lewis and Clark High School, Choicenet
Internet Services, Fitzbillies Bagels and Northwest Investment Advisors,
and has been completely renovated to accommodate the needs of today's
businesses.
"Our new headquarters' central location, plus its proximity to other
emerging-technology companies will offer a synergy not available in
a traditional office park," said Norm Leatha, GenPrime president and
CEO. "In addition, we're very excited to be a part of a new, revitalized
downtown and expect our new facilities to be a valuable recruiting tool."
Rob Brewster, Jr., The Holley Mason president, said, "As an energetic,
entrepreneurial company developing breakthroughs in biotech testing
technology, GenPrime is a perfect match for the Holley Mason Building.
GenPrime's tenancy offers another firm commitment to keeping downtown
Spokane the true hub of the Inland Empire."
GenPrime was founded in 1996 with a focus on improving quality control
in processes dependent on total viable organism counts. Since then the
company has developed products that key customers and industry luminaries
have hailed as breakthroughs in microbiological testing technology.
Products are currently being marketed to the dairy and brewing industries,
with additional applications under development. GenPrime is currently
in the process of growing its staff of biotech professionals and technicians.
The Holley Mason Building was developed by Robert C. Brewster, Jr. in
1999 and 2000 as a high-tech center for business and education. Located
on Howard Street in downtown Spokane, the building features over 106,000
square feet of office and retail space, with large floor plates and
excellent Internet connectivity. Built in 1905, the Holley Mason received
the 2000 Washington State Historical Preservation award.
