The Montvale, Spokane's Oldest Hotel, Reopens - 2/9/2005

SPOKANE, WASH. – ConoverBond Development announces the long anticipated opening of the Montvale Hotel. Built in 1899 and abandoned in 1974, the 36-room Montvale re-opens as both Spokane’s “oldest” and “newest” hotel. “Renovating the hotel has been a goal of mine for a long time,” said Spokane Developer and Montvale Hotel Owner, Robert C. Brewster, Jr. “It’s good to finally see the building teaming with activity and welcoming guests. The Montvale is a warm and inviting hotel.” The landmark Montvale Hotel combines turn of the century architecture with unique furnishings and excellent service. It will focus on providing guests a comfortable stay while honoring its colorful past. The long forgotten two-story atrium and balcony have been turned into an “urban lodge-like” space. Hotel rooms, lobby and atrium all have free high-speed wireless and network connectivity. Two state-of-the-art conference rooms are available with drop down screens and projectors. Many of the Montvale’s suites include flat panel LCD televisions, jetted tubs and fireplaces. In addition to the hotel’s European artwork and antiques, Spokane-area artists will display their work in the hotel’s lobby and two-story atrium. Located in downtown Spokane’s emerging First Avenue arts district, the Montvale Hotel anchors the most popular entertainment area in the city. Rooms offer some of Spokane’s best urban vistas – overlooking landmarks such as the Fox Theater, the Steam Plant and the Big Easy Concert Hall. The Montvale is surrounded by many nightclubs, restaurants and music venues, including Centerstage, Ella’s Supper Club, The Met, and Marilyn’s on Monroe. Deep in the cellar of the hotel, the Catacombs Pub, a European-style restaurant, offers room and catering service for the hotel. Along with Far West Billiards and the Twilight Room, Catacombs offers guests a fun and eventful experience. For the months of February and March, the Montvale is offering a special rate of $99 for a standard room. Hotel room rates range from $135 for a standard room to $400 for the Presidential Suite. The Montvale Hotel is located at 1005 West First Avenue, Spokane. Reservations can be made at www.montvalehotel.com or by calling 509-747-1919 or toll-free 1-86-MONTVALE.
