In September 2002, over 140 Eastern Washington University students
moved into the Dorothy Brewster Residence Hall and Living Center. The
sparkling $5.5 million residence hall, located in downtown Cheney, is
one of the first complexes to place EWU students in the center of Cheney’s
business community.
ConoverBond Development proposed the construction of the living center
in March 2002. The building officially opened its doors in a short 6
months. The development has been so successful in revitalizing downtown
Cheney that plans are now underway to expand this student community.
Phase one and phase two will consist of two more buildings in the same
downtown area that will mix residential and retail uses. Brewster Hall
was recognized by the State of Washington as having the “Best Economic
Restructuring Story, 2003.”
